LET'S ALL GO FISHING

Matthew 4:19

There is a story of a group of older fishermen that formed them selves, a fisherman's club.

They  met once and some time, twice each week and would talk about the fishing trips they used to go on and some of the fish they had caught. They talked of the lakes and streams they had fished in and how exciting it was to catch that extra large one.

They talked of the different type of  bait and the lures they used. It was such a joy to be part of the exclusive fisherman's club. Many people around town at times mentioned how the fisherman's club had done some nice things for the youth of the community, they talked about how well mannered the men in the fisherman's club were,  some even said they would some day like to join this exclusive men's group.

There was a young man that lived in their town that enjoyed fishing and every chance he had he got his pole and bait and went down to the near by river and fished for sometimes two or three hours. Finally one day he caught that big one that didn't get away.

The men in the fishing club heard about the large fish he had caught. They had a special called meeting of the club and one of the members made a motion that the young man be made an honorary member of their club. the motion was seconded and everyone voted to accept him

One of the club members said, I think it would be nice for the young man to come to one of our club meetings and tell us about that big fish he caught, everyone agreed and he was invited to come to the next meeting,  not only come to the meeting ,  they voted to have  a luncheon in his honor. The young man agreed, and the day come when he was introduced to everyone as the president of the club gave him a  certificate making him officially an honorary member of the local fisherman's club. The club members ask him a lot of questions about the day he caught the fish. What day was it they ask? Was it a clear day or was there some clouds overhead ask another? After many questions about the weather condition some of them wanted to know, were you in a boat or were you on the river bank? While others was very concerned about the type of pole, line and lure, was it live bait or was it a plug you caught it on? Everyone was so excited hearing about the fish he caught They started talking to others about the fish and another club heard about him and they invited him to come to their club and tell them all the details of how he caught the fish. Finally he had a lot of  invitations from other fishermen's clubs to come tell them how he caught the fish. He was so busy that he did not have time to go fishing any more.  I hear a lot of people talk of the wonderful church meetings we used to be in. They talk of how the Lord blessed them as they used to work their jobs eight and ten hours  per day and rushed home to attend the revival meeting in their church.  Many tell of the two and three week revivals they used to have but sigh oh, we can't get people to come now. Isn't it about time we stopped talking about fishing and get our tackle box's ( Bibles in hand ) and go fishing for the Lord. Have we set around the last few years and talked about church and how we used to do things that we have forgotten that in order to have a live church today we must do some fishing for souls today? There are many today that like to hear about the mission trips we have taken, the people that  were saved during those trips, however there must come a time that we  get up,  get ready and go fishing ourselves. Some will not go because they have never been before, the fear of not being able to fish causes some to say let someone else do it, I'm not qualified. I would like to give you the tools you need to catch  men for the Lord. The Bible contains what is known as the Roman road simple plan of salvation. If you learn these Scripture's and really believe them you can be able to win your friends and family to the Lord and  rejoice in being what Proverbs 11:30 calls a wise man. Romans 3: 23 tells us, all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  Romans 5:8 God gave without reservations his love toward us in that while we were sinners Christ died for us .Romans 6:23 teaches us; the wages  of sin is death. Romans 10:9 -12 If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and  believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:13 Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
