MEMORIAL DAY

Joshua 24:13-16

In America we have set aside a day to remember the ones we once enjoyed being with but for some reason we don't fully understand they are no longer with us. There are things they said and did while they were with us that still help or sometimes hurt us.

It is good for us to remember those of yesterday and learn from our positive experiences. We also can learn from our negative experiences and not make the mistakes of yesterday.

There are many things we need to remember:

America needs to remember her foundation. The foundation of any structure is the most important part of it. When we have a good foundation and it has proven over the years to be solid there is no reason to tamper with it. If I understand the basic foundation of America, it is built and reinforced by certain ingredients. The basic foundation is belief in the One and Only True God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The God that brought the children of Israel out of Egypt is the same one that gave His only begotten Son (Jesus) to die on a cross for my sins.

America needs to remember that the moral foundation of right and clean living worked for our forefathers and it will work for us today.

Sin is a reproach to any people. It will eat away at the foundation of your life and destroy both body and soul.

America needs to remember the thousands of men and women that gave their lives for the freedom we have and enjoy today. All of us need to remember the wars that have been fought, the sacrifices that so many have made that this land we call America has been like no other nation on earth. As far as I am concerned America is still the country that each of us can choose the way we want to live and then we will be rewarded by making the right choice.

We each need to remember that we shall all some day join those that have gone on ahead of us. The lives we live now will follow us into eternity. I for one don't want You and I are traveling down the road of life never to return again to the day of birth. There are  two roads we can travel but we can not travel on both of them at the same time. We somewhere must make a choice which road we are going to travel upon. There is the broad road that leads to destruction and there is the narrow road that leads to life. Which one are you planning to travel on? You say preacher some day I shall get on the right road. The Bible says now is the day of salvation to ever stand before the Lord and hear him say I gave you a beautiful home land but you never took care of it. I gave you a beautiful family and you never cared enough to bring them up to know me. I gave you an abundance of wealth and you never one time shared with those less fortunate than you. Friends we pass through this way but once, let's use the time God has given to us wisely.

Above all else we need to remember Calvary. Jesus said what would a man give in exchange for his soul. Mark 8:36.
