Who Will I Send?

Is. 6;6-8

Man has had needs since time began. Some things man can do for himself and man needs to do everything he can for himself and his family.

There are some things man must ask someone else to do for him for each of us is limited in our own power.

Man cannot redeem himself; no matter how hard man tries there is no redemption power in his own ability. I have watched as man has tried to please God in himself. I have watched men hang themselves by their own flesh, I have seen man as he beat himself with chains mutilating his body in pain as the blood ran down his back; we have seen men fly an airplane into a ship loaded with a bomb hoping to have a greater life in the life to come. I watched a man recently as he grew a strange looking beard, wore odd looking clothing and had his wife to dress oddly and cover her head and face trying to please God and redeem their souls. They, like all others, must have someone to do for them what they cannot do for themselves.

Man-made religion only reaches the surface, there must be something that penetrates deeper than the flesh of man. The Bible says, all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Man is reaching out trying to find the right ingredient to bring peace to the soul and comfort when death comes.

There are some that try strong drink or drugs only to wake up the next day and find the pain still in their souls.

If man cannot redeem himself, then who can? (I'm glad you ask.) Man has a Creator that knows what he is made of . He knows man is nothing within himself and cannot redeem himself.

This is where God did something for us we could not do for ourselves. There was a price that had to be paid for the soul of man and only the only begotten Son of God had the power and ability to redeem us.

Romans 5:9 tells us, "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."

Colossians 1:14 tells us, "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sin." Hebrews 9:22, "And almost all things are purged with blood, and without the shedding of blood is no remission of sin."

It took a blood sacrifice of a sinless perfect person and there has never been one except Jesus,  for the Bible says we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Man cannot take himself to Heaven. No matter how hard we try by our own selves, we will never make it. Yes, we need to be good as we can be, we need to join the church and be baptized and do good deeds for our neighbor but this won't get us to Heaven. Jesus said in John 14:3-4, "I go to prepare a place for you and if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself that where I am you may be also."

One thing all of us can do. We can accept what Jesus did at Calvary and let Him take us home when he comes.
