The Lord Will Provide For Us

Josh. 13:6

In the first verse of Joshua 13, the Lord told Joshua, you are old and well stricken with age but there was much more work to be done. I believe this thought should be carried to the second part of verse six where the Lord said I will drive out from before the children of Israel.

Throughout the Bible we find that often man has done what the Lord said for him to do. The Lord will do for us what we can't do.

While Joshua was able, the Lord gave him strength to fight for himself but when Joshua was old the Lord did for Joshua what Joshua could no longer do.

The Lord has always done these things for man. Adam needed a companion and the Lord provided one for him. Noah needed safety for his family and the Lord provided an ark for him and his family. Noah listened to the Lord and the Lord gave him plans and materials to build with.

Abraham took Isaac up to Mt. Moriah and on the way up Isaac said, Father we have the wood and the fire but where is the sacrifice? In reply Abraham said the Lord will provide. Gen. 22;8. They came to the place which God had told him of and Abraham built an altar there, laid the wood in order, bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar upon the wood. Here we find Abraham doing all he could then the Lord stepped in. In Gen. 22:14 we find a word "Jehovah-Jireh" which means the Lord provides.

The Psalmist learned that the Lord always cared for is people. We hear him say in the 23rd Psalm, The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. We can find many wonderful promises in the Psalms about God's protection of His own. Ps. 33:18 Behold the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear Him. Ps. 62:1-2, Truly my soul waiteth upon the Lord. From him cometh my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation. He is my defense, I shall not be greatly removed. I have never seen the righteous forsaken. I Peter 5:7 tells us casting all your cares upon Him for he careth for you.

How much more could the Lord care as to go from Heaven to this cruel dark earth and shed His blood for the sins of sinful mankind.

Jesus said no greater love hath any man than that he give his life for his friends. John 15:13.

As we look at Calvary we see the provisions our Lord has made for the whole world.

The beauty of God's provisions: there is none too poor or rich or good or bad that can't find forgiveness of their sins and be cleansed and made fit for heaven.

You can be down and out or you can be up and out. Still Christ's blood cleanses from all sin.

There are many thirsty and hungry souls that need only to accept these provisions our Lord has provided. Jesus said, Matt. 11:29, Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls.
