Jesus, The Promised One

Mt. 1:21

Did you ever think of the many Scriptures that tell us about Jesus?

Genesis .3:15 is believed by many to be the first reference of Christ. And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed. It shall bruise thy head and thou shall  bruise his heel.

The prophet Isaiah in Is. 9:6 tells us, For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulders, and his name shall be called Wonderful, counselor, the might God, the everlasting Father, the prince of peace.

Micah 5:2...Out of thee shall come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Matthew chapter one takes us from Jesus back to Abraham and the book of Luke takes us from Jesus back to Adam the son of God, beginning in Luke 3:23.

We can follow the life of Jesus as Joseph was going to Bethlehem to be taxed and Mary gives birth to him in Luke 2:7. and she brought forth her first-born son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger: for there was no room for him in the inn.

Luke 2:21 tells us the eighth day  he was circumcised and his name was Jesus which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

Simeon in Luke 2:25-30 said he could now die in peace because he had now seen the salvation of Israel when he held the young child Jesus.

Matthew records the visit of the wise men and the gifts being brought to the baby Jesus and then Joseph takes the child into Egypt until Herod dies and they later return to Nazareth.

Three are many scriptures that tell us of Jesus' latter years but I know of only one that tells us of things he did as a young person. Luke 2:40 tells us the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace of God was upon him. He was twelve years old at that time and the time from twelve unto thirty he was subject to his parents. Luke 2;52 tells us he increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man.

Luke 3:21 Our Lord began his ministry as he was baptized by John the Baptist and we hear verse 22 say, And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

Psalms 22 describes the way the Son of God was treated as well as the Gospels. He was crucified, buried and the third day was resurrected from the dead.

We find him after the resurrection standing on the Mount of Olivet blessing the people and as he does he ascends back into heaven and two angels saying this same Jesus will come again as you have seen him go. Acts 1:10-11.
