Are You Ready For Christ-mas

Matthew 6:25-34

Someone ask a friend, Are you ready for Christmas? The answer many times is, I think so, I hope so or I'm almost.

I am aware that this person was saying, have you got all your gifts bought? Do you have your last minute shopping done?

The word Christ-mas is a Latin word  that means Christ worship.

Let me ask you this same question in a different tone of voice. When is a person ready for Christ worship?

We will all agree before a person can truly worship the Lord there must be a born again experience with the Lord Jesus by his Spirit giving us the 2nd.birth. God is a Spirit and can only be worshipped in spirit and truth. Man does not have the ability to worship God in spirit unless God gives the ability to him. When we are born of His Spirit, God puts the desire within us to love The Lord and our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Can a person be saved and not be ready for Christ worship? The Psalmist in Psalm 66:18; If I regard iniquity in my heart the Lord will not hear me. Psalms 130:3; If the Lord should mark iniquity; Oh Lord who should stand? Is this saying, if the Lord wrote down all our sins and remembered them against us, who would be found innocent ?

What about forgiving others? Am I ready to worship the Lord if I have not forgiven others for the wrong they have done to me?

Jesus was innocent, but He was nailed to the cross. His dying words were, Father forgive them for they know not what they do.

Stephen, when he was stoned to death prayed, Lord don't lay this sin to their charge. Acts 7:59-60.

Jesus in John 8:1-11 met a group of people who had taken a woman in the very act of adultery. They told our Lord that The Law, (Deuteronomy 22:22) said this woman is to be stoned to death. If they had of known the Law they would of known that both the man and woman was to be stoned to death. For some reason they only brought the woman. Do you suppose they were only trying to trick our Lord and not carrying out the  Law?

In John 8:6; the Bible tells us Jesus stooped down, and with His finger wrote on the ground, as though He heard them not.

His reply showed that there is sin in every persons life. You that are without sin cast the first stone at her, said Jesus.

There was an act of honesty that took place, for everyone , beginning with the oldest person to the youngest left.

Only Jesus and the woman now stood there, One day my friend only  you and Jesus are going to be standing together.

There was no one to speak for or against her now. Here in John 8: 10-11 Jesus said, woman where are your accusers, hath no man condemned you? And she replied, no man Lord, and some of the sweetest words ever spoken by our Lord were spoken to her, neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more.

This woman was given a new beginning as each of us can have because of what Jesus Christ the Son of God did for us a Calvary.

Thank God we can have a new beginning  and be ready for Christ-mas.

How easy it is for you and me to get caught up with commercial side of Christmas. Sure buy each other a nice gift, have a nice dinner, but let's not forget the real meaning of Christ-mas.
