THE GIFT OF ALL GIFTS John 3:16
There are many gifts given in this life. We all enjoy getting gifts of different kinds. Where do you suppose we got our desire to give gifts from? I believe when God created us, He placed within each of us a desire to give gifts. some of us are bigger givers than others, each of us wants to give to please someone in some way. From early days God has been giving gifts to mankind. There was a man by the name of Abraham that had a son by the name of Isaac and Abraham was ask to offer the only son he had as a sacrifice. In Gen. 22: 9-13 he set out for the land of Moriah to offer the most precious possession he had, his son. We find that Abraham places Isaac on the alter of sacrifice. The boys hands and feet are bound, the wood is in place for the burning of the body and Abraham's hand is raised with the knife ready to take Isaac's life. Isaac is helpless with no one but God to help him and as always, God comes to the rescue by having a Ram prepared for Isaac's substitute. Abraham took the Ram and offered him instead of his son. Abraham called the place Jehovah -jireh. ( The Lord will provide ) The Exodus tells us; in Exodus 12: 12-13 of a time when a whole nation of people called Israel were in Egypt. There had been nine plaques that had come upon the Egyptians and now the tenth one was about to separate the believers from the non believers. Israel was told to do something that everyone could do. Take the blood of a lamb that was without blemish, a male of the first year. It could be from the herd of sheep or the goats. After keeping it up until the fourteenth of the same month they were to take the blood and strike it upon the two side post and the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. The blood shall be a token upon the houses wherein you are. and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you. Here God gave the needed gift to those who would accept it. Our text tells us, for God so loved the world that he gave His Only begotten Son that who so ever believes in him should not perish, but shall have everlasting life. Matthew 1:21 tells us; she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name JESUS for he shall save his people from their sins. Friends my salvation is in none other than the Lord Jesus Christ, He is the one who died for me, He is the one who rose from the dead for me and there is no other hope for man kind than Jesus and his blood applied to our lives. Remember one man Isaac needed a substitute, and God provided. One nation needed a substitute and God provided. The world needed a substitute and God provided His only Begotten Son, Heavens best, it is now up to you and me, will we accept his provisions and be saved from the wrath to come? This Christmas why not accept the gift of all gifts and prepare yourself for the day God shall call and we shall all answer. I will assure you, you will never regret it. Have you ever met a person that was sorry they got saved?
