SOME LAST WORDS, FROM THE CROSS

LUKE 23: 33-46

There are at least five things our Lord Jesus did while he was hanging on the cross. He was on the cross from 12 Noon to 3 PM we know of and probably from 9 AM-3:00 PM. see Luke 23:44.

He forgive the people that crucified him. Luke 23:34

He forgive a sinner, Luke 23:42.

He commended his spirit unto the Father, Luke 23:46a.

He gave up the ghost. Luke 23:46b.

He forgive: There are a lot of people today that has a real problem with the word forgive. We all want forgiveness from our sins but we need to hear what Jesus said in Matthew 6:12.  And  forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. Luke 11:4 makes it even plainer; Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. Friends today we need a revival of forgiving others.

He forgive a sinner; There is a need in ever persons life for forgiveness and cleansing.

This man in Luke 23:42 had come to the end of the road of life here on earth. He had made a lot of mistakes and now he is paying for his crimes with his life. This man is somewhat like many today. He did the things he wanted to do even though he knew he would some day have to pay, for he said in Luke 23: 41, for we receive the due rewards of our deeds. This man has done nothing wrong.

He commended his spirit to the Father Luke 23:46a

Luke 23:45 tells us the sun was darkened at 3:00  in the evening and the veil of the temple was rent "torn" in the midst. "We can all now come to the throne of God."

Jesus died freely, that day what each of us must one day do. The book of Hebrews 9:27 tells us; It is appointed unto man once to die, but after that the judgement.

We live here just a short few years at the most and then we hear the alarm go off that it is time to go. Friends we are going to go, whether we are ready or not.

It is vitality important that we be ready when that day comes.

There is only one reason for anyone to leave this world not prepared. That reason is your own choice.

The blood of Christ cleanses from all sin, but we must go to him for this  salvation.

Jesus died between two thieves. One of them was saved by asking to be remembered and I believe the other could have been saved if he too would of ask. He choose to curse instead of repent.

Today you and I are somewhat like the two thieves. We are all guilty of sin.

The question is, will we repent of our sins and ask the Lord to remember us or will we continue down the road of destruction?

There is a story told of an old country preacher dreaming of getting on an elevator and going very high up. Suddenly the elevator stopped and as the door opened he heard beautiful music coming from all around. He said he saw some of the most happy people he ever saw but there was one extremely happy person. He thought this must be one of the disciples so he ask him why was he so happy and who he was. His reply was I am the thief that was on the right side of Jesus. You see, I only had time to ask.

The preacher got back onto the elevator and pressed the down button. To his surprise the next door that was opened there was some of the most miserable people he had ever seen. There was moans and groans coming from every where but there seemed to be one more miserable than all else as he cried to late, to late. Why are you so unhappy and miserable ask the preacher and what is your name?  I am the thief on the left side of Jesus, I could have been saved if I had of ask the Lord but I was to selfish and stubborn to ask. Now it is to late.

Friend while there is still time please don't let the opportunity to be saved pass you  up.

The applied blood of Jesus Christ can cleanse you and make you ready for the day God will call you.

There is a prayer that you can pray,  Dear Lord Jesus I know I am a sinner, please come into my heart and forgive me of all my sins and save me for Jesus sake. I will live the rest of my life for you for I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
