The Missing Ingredient Colossians 2:1-10 Some time back there was a TV show that was discussing the problems of drugs and the people who use drugs. There was a Medical Doctor along with some others who claimed to be experts on the problems and dangers of drugs. One young girl had taken PCP and today she can not walk or talk. She simply exist because of the damage the drugs have done to her nervous system. For years people have made home made drugs and drinks that have destroyed many peoples health and life. I met a man who drank some moonshine whiskey that was made in a galvanized wash tub resulting in him being paralyzed for the rest of his life. Someone in the audience ask the Doctor, people who use drugs, Do they have something missing in their life? The Doctor's reply was, yes they do have something missing in their life. Many today who use drugs and strong drink surely has something missing . If we are honest today with ourselves we will all admit there was something in our life that we felt missing. Why is it that everyone on earth has a struggle sometime in their life. Some try to fill this void with drugs or strong drink, some try to fill the void by hard work and making plenty of money. They reason, If I had plenty money I would be happy. Let me ask you a question, If this is true then why do I know many people who has money, nice cars , nice clothes and can buy almost anything they want but they are not happy. Some try to buy power and this only brings more problems to their life You can bake the best bread ever but leave out one ingredient and your bread is no good. Try making a batch of white bread and leave out the yeast and see what happens. Cook you a nice kettle of pinto beans, make a beautiful pone of corn bread, fry your potatoes golden brown, but leave out the salt and see what happens. Jesus said ; Ye are the salt of the earth Matthew 5:13. But if the salt has lost its savor. It is henceforth good for nothing. ( Our savor is Gods power in our life ) When the necessary ingredient is missing you have an incomplete product. Our Creator made us in such a way that before we are complete He must dwell in us. He made sockets for our eyes, veins for our blood to flow through and a place called the soul for His Spirit to live in. No wonder the apostle Paul said You are complete in Christ. Man is made in the image of God. Gen. 1:26. Man is even triune There are three joints to each finger, three joints on each arm and leg and our body is in three parts, head trunk and hips In order to be complete every ingredient must be in place. In order to be a happy normal person every person must have every ingredient in place. In order to be a happy child of God we must have our spirituals things in order. Be born again John 3:3-8, Be led by the Spirit, Romans 8:9 Live a life that brings honor to Jesus Christ. If ye then be risen with Christ seek those things which are above where Christ sits at the right hand of God. Col. 3:1 Ingredient for a Christian fellowship 2nd Chronicles 7:14 If my people who are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray, seek my face and turn from their wicked ways: then will I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Invitation Have you felt that there is something missing in your life? I don't want you to feel as though you are the only one on earth that has this empty feeling. When God made man He made us to have fellowship with Him. If His presence is not within us there is an emptiness and it will be there until we let Christ live in us by His Spirit. you can change this emptiness to fullness by accepting Jesus into your heart now. Simply pray a prayer some what like this. Dear Lord Jesus, I have an emptiness in me that I know that only you can fill. Please come into my heart , forgive me of all my sins and I will love and serve you the remaining days of my life. I pray this prayer in Jesus name Amen. I ask Jesus to fill the emptiness in my life today ___________________ Signed |
